I meant to write sooner, swear I did, but as it happens often, life took over… projects to deliver, deadlines to meet, concerts to play and so on and so forth.

It’s been over two months since the release of Só Palavras and Sem Palavras and I’ve finally been able to sit down to write about it.

The first stop on the tour, back in October, was at the Literary Fair in the town I grew up, Taquara, in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, in the south of Brazil. A beautiful moment of synchronicity as it coincided with my already planned trip, the 40th anniversary of our family’s move there and forty years since getting my first acoustic guitar!

The feeling I left with that night, after reconnecting with so many friends from childhood and adolescence, teachers, former bandmates and people I hold so dear to my heart is that it does indeed take a village, a whole town in my case.

The dream I had as a kid - moving to Los Angeles to study and play music - was shared in part or perhaps in its entirety, willingly or not, with all of those I knew back then. Their support, prayers, belief and even doubts all served as fuel, motivation and inspiration to keep going, in spite of the challenges, and striving to reach the goals I had.

A deep sense of gratitude set in, later that evening. For all that’s been, the experiences had in this amazing journey, all the moments that have led to this present one, the love shared and expressed in its many different ways, shapes and forms.

I thank you, my dear friends. Eternally. And wish you a new year filled with kindness, love, forgiveness and peace.
